How to Drive Digital Transformation in the Enterprise

CIOs can adopt low-code development to speed digital transformation.Top of mind for CIOs these days is how to drive digital transformation in the enterprise. And one of the simplest way to do that, according to an article in Search Microservices by Darryl Taft, is the use of low-code development tools.

The article starts off by noting that business process transformation (BPM), which aims to improve a company’s workflow “in the face of constant changes,” has entered a new phase. It quotes Rob Koplowitz, an analyst with Forrester Research, as saying, “We actually use the term digital process automation rather than BPM because of the shifting technology trends that directly support digital transformation.”

Koplowitz says the first step in digital transformation is the use of low-code development tools: “The first change we see is a shift to low-code development to support the greater number of processes required to achieve digital transformation. Low-code is faster and moves many development activities closer to business owners. The second [change] is a focus on user experience, including low-code mobile development.”

Koplowitz isn’t alone in pointing to low-code development tools as being key to a company’s digital transformation. So does Ed Fox, vice president of network services at telecommunications provider MetTel in New York. He said in the article that the use of the tools lowered costs by 30 percent, and also “led to better decision-making, greater capacity and [reduced] our network operating costs by one-third.”

Also on the low-code bandwagon for digital transformation is Jason Bloomberg, a contributor to Forbes. He writes in an article, “The Low-Code/No-Code Movement: More Disruptive Than You Realize” that “As today’s enterprises undergo digital transformation, they become software-driven organizations.” He adds, “Enterprises realize they can be even more successful with their digital transformations if they do away with hand-coding altogether, adopting Low-Code/No-Code across their organizations instead.”

He then quotes E. Scott Menter, Chief Strategy Officer at BP Logix: “No-Code is here, and it doesn’t care about making your IT organization more efficient. Its only purpose is to turn your business into a digitally integrated, audit-defying, silo-resistant object of their customers’ desire.”

Alpha Anywhere is one of the most highly rated low-code platforms. InfoWorld named it a top mobile app development leader, and users rate it tops on product review sites. Here are details about Alpha Anywhere’s low-code capabilities.
